Warehouse Associate – Night Operations (all positions)

Standard Beverage is currently hiring immediately for all night-shift warehouse positions in our Lawrence, Kansas distribution center. Our night-shift employees enjoy a 4-day work week, Monday thru Thursday nights, with weekends off! Shift runs from approximately 5:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Open positions include:

· Forklift drivers- (Forklift experience required)

· Oddball pickers (Cherry Picker experience required)

· Loaders

· Full-Case conveyor line pickers

· Bottle-Line pickers

Job responsibilities may include:

· Accurately picking orders on pick lines using printed pick labels, RF guns or voice command software

· Placing individual cases onto conveyor lines while maintaining product quality

· Operating a fork lift or cherry picker to pull product (forklift driver positions only)

· Operating a forklift to replenish picking locations and move product throughout the warehouse

· Loading product securely onto trailers by floor stacking cases and pallets

· Utilize electric pallet jack to load pallets on trailers

· Cross-training and working other departments as necessary

· Meeting all productivity requirements

· Maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area

· Following standard operating procedures and adhering to all safety standards

· General housekeeping and sanitation tasks will be required

Requirements:

· Must be able to report for all assigned shifts

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly and stand/walk continuously for 8-10 hours

· Must be able to perform tasks efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment

· Must be able to communicate and interact well with coworkers and managers

· Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Temperatures in our warehouse may vary between seasons.

· Must be at least 18 years old

· Employment contingent upon pre-employment drug screening and background screening

Operations Manager- Night Shift

 

Company Description

This is an exciting opportunity with an expanding company in Kansas. As part of our commitment to continue to grow our business, we are currently underway with a $26M expansion of our Lawrence, Kansas distribution center, including the addition of a state-of-the-art Material Handling System. As part of this expansion we will be constructing 115,000 sq./ft of additional warehouse space, including new employee spaces, break room, locker rooms, wellness room and hospitality area. The project is expected to be completed towards the end of 2021, with a “go-live” date of January 2022. Once completed, our Distribution Center will span nearly 350,000 sq./ft and will give us the ability to ship upwards of 80,000 cases per night.

 

 

Role Description

Night shift production runs Monday through Thursday nights. The Night Operations Manager will be based out of our Lawrence, Kansas distribution center and will report to the Director of Operations. This position will provide leadership and direction to a team of approximately 50 associates in order to ensure effective and efficient execution of all nightly warehouse operations. The role will have responsibility for controlling costs, managing labor and FTE’s, production planning and strategy, as well as challenging current processes and implementing operational improvements for the night production operations. Being self-motivated, results-driven, having strong initiative to lead and the ability to execute will be critical requirements for this position.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong, demonstrated background in warehouse leadership with experience managing a team of 50+ non-exempt employees, supervisors and managers. The candidate must possess exceptionally strong leadership skills with the ability to provide both strategic and tactical direction to achieve organizational objectives. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering results and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple work streams simultaneously.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and drive nightly operations initiatives, workflow, and processes to control operating costs and labor.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control the course of night operations by integrating and aligning operational functions and processes with business goals.
  • Coach and develop mid-level supervisors and managers.
  • Maximize operational efficiencies by developing, defining and reporting defined and actionable metrics and KPI’s.
  • Implement, enhance and maintain operational processes and procedures.
  • Regularly work with the Director of Operations to evaluate current systems and processes in all functional areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve production efficiencies.
  • Establish and meet objectives, financial performance, safety, quality, and customer service in compliance with all applicable internal and external policies.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports; apply advanced interpersonal and communication skills to motivate the workforce, drive execution of policies/procedures and implement corrective measures when necessary to ensure productivity levels are met.
  • Responsibility for managing maintenance and operation of all material handling equipment.
  • Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe working environment.

 

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business management, warehouse management, related field, or equivalent experience in Operations leadership.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in warehouse operations leadership and management roles.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team of 50+ non-exempt employees.
  • Foundational ability and desire to develop, coach and mentor direct reports.
  • Strong background in managing and leading change, as well as implementing process improvement and efficiency strategies.
  • Strong, working knowledge of AS400, SAP, or other relevant warehouse management systems.
  • Knowledge of DMW&H Systems Shiraz WCS software is a plus
  • Results-oriented attitude with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity and honesty in all aspects.
  • Highly effective written communications and high attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands.
  • Experience and/or training in OSHA compliance preferred.
